What is Truth?

Dangerous Times

What's Right for You
In our American public educational institutions, our students are being taught that there are no absolutes. Have you noticed that everyone has the right to be right? The great Evangelical Christian theologian and philosopher Francis A. Schaeffer made this observation, “In passing we should note this curious mark of our age: The only absolute allowed is the absolute insistence that there is no absolute.”

The popular slogan, "What's right for you may not be what's right for me," is a great example of Ethical Relativism. This kind of thinking relies on the individual to determine what is right or wrong in his/her cultural context. Anthropologists teach that cultures differ widely in moral practices because of their diversity of values. It can also be applied to changing moral values from one generation to the next as time produces new social standards.

What happens when there are undesirable cultural shifts in attitudes and values? We have certainly witnessed this in America in the Supreme Court decisions affirming gay marriage, denying the sanctity of life, and allowing evolution to be dogmatically taught in our public school classrooms. It is evident that in America and throughout the western world there is a deep cultural shift where the traditional standards have been degraded and Ethical Relativism has become a substitute. Without absolute law established by an all-wise, just, and divine Creator Who reigns over all mankind, the planet becomes a dangerous place to live. Contrary to the popular idealistic belief that men can save themselves, we have witnessed chaos, confusion, and death. History has time and again demonstrated this when man has ruled with Ethical Relativism. The continuation of such chaos will ultimately lead to ruthless dictatorships and the demise of mankind. However, we need to be reminded that Ethical Relativism is not a new philosophy.

It has existed since man’s first transgression when Eve was challenged in Genesis 3:1 by the serpent who said, "Did God really say?"

One of the most outspoken evolutionary paleontologists and the present curator at the American Museum of Natural History, Niles Eldredge, affirms this kind of Ethical Relativism just like so many other secular scholars when he denies evolution's horrific consequences. These consequences, marked by genocide that resulted in the deaths of millions, are conveniently lumped under the term "Social Darwinism" by Eldredge and other zealot evolutionists. This kind of evolution is a basic application of Darwin's theory of Natural Selection which weeds out the weak and promotes the survival of more fit in the crude struggle of "nature's red tooth and claw."

Since Darwin's publication of the "Origin of Species" in 1859, many academicians have not only accepted this infamous theory but attempted to apply it. After all, since science has made contributions to benefit mankind, should this not apply to evolution, too?

The crude reality is that Darwin's theory is not science but is instead a dangerous idea that brings horrific consequences as demonstrated in the Nazi genocides where at least 11 million supposedly “weak,” innocent lives were sacrificed. Certainly Eldredge and his fellow evolutionists want to separate themselves from this horrible memory of the Holocaust, inferring that this was a misplaced application of Darwinian evolution.

Eldredge adopts Ethical Relativism, believing that intelligent man certainly can make his own ethical system. To celebrate Darwin's 200th birthday, Eldredge authored "Darwin: Discovering the Tree of Life" (2005). Protecting Darwin's evolutionary theory he states, "But as human beings we make our own laws to govern our conduct - laws based in part on ethics. These can be seen as pragmatic rules to stabilize social life."

In the beginning of the 1900's, there was a growing Eugenics movement, a pseudoscience based on the ideas of Social Darwinism. In 1883, Francis Galton, Darwin’s first cousin, introduced Eugenics to Britain and then to the world. He was a vigorous disciple of his cousin and promoted the improvement of the human race with the biology of evolution. His emphasis was on discouraging the reproduction of the weak and increasing the population of those with inheritable, desirable traits. The desirability and undesirability of these traits are dictated by Ethical Relativism. Eugenics are centered on the idea that you can breed man in the same way you can breed horses to produce desirable traits. It is no surprise that, in America, this idea had drawn such great interest from the American Breeding Association that in 1906, a Eugenics Committee was formed.

Galton's influence reached America formally with the direct, enthusiastic collaboration of Charles Davenport, a Harvard PhD biologist who had a passion to merge Galton's Eugenics with the rediscovered Mendelian genetics. This movement received enormous funding from the Carnegie Institute, Rockefeller Foundation, IBM, and J.H. Kellogg because its primary goal was to make a better race of man. The tragic consequence of this activity, which Americans often want to sweep under the carpet, was the forced sterilization of 60,000 disabled people in 32 states. It then gave Margaret Sanger a platform to establish Planned Parenthood, paving the way to legalize abortion and take the lives of millions of babies. It promoted racial segregation and introduced the IQ test to separate the more intelligent, fit students, giving them more opportunities for success. Worst of all, it became a model for Hitler and his Nazis to instigate the Holocaust tragedy which killed more than 12 million people.

Galton's idea of Eugenics was simply an application based on the allegation that evolutionary claims were scientific. Science is defined as probing the world to understand how things work and exploring how they are related to man. Over the years, we have witnessed how one idea can make an enormous impact. With the discovery of Penicillin, we have saved many lives because it kills certain kinds of bacteria which cause infection. We can look around and see so many examples of how "good" science benefits man. It is because evolution is not science, but a dangerous idea, that we have seen such horrific effects. It is a terrible error to separate Hitler's atrocities and so many other heinous deeds that man has committed from a direct association with evolution.

Ethical Relativism prevails with a solid foundation as long as evolution persists. We need to be reminded that when the Creator with His absolute law is purposely dismissed, "the wrath is being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of man." (Romans 1:18)

Unleashed humans have the potential to annihilate themselves from this planet. Man is the most dangerous creature on earth. We exist because of God's grace. Christ is the one that keeps all things together as the Bible states, "And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:17 ESV)

Defining Truth
The perception of truth that students are presented with in the classroom is confusing. This is affirmed by Paul Pardi's attempt to define truth according to "Philosophynews.com" on January 29, 2015. It is difficult to clarify truth in an environment where everything is in the process of change. He describes the condition of truth as ever-changing:

"We seem to rely on it almost every moment of every day and it's very ‘close’ to us. Yet it's difficult to define because as soon as you think you have it pinned down, some case or counter example immediately shows deficiencies. Ironically, every definition of truth that philosophers have developed falls prey to the question, 'Is it true?'" (www.philosophynews.com/post/2015/01/29/What-is-Truth.aspx)

Perhaps the philosophers have missed a crucial reality that the definition of truth can only be revealed by God because He embodies all truth. Jesus Christ is God's revelation of truth as He states, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6) The first principle of truth is founded only in the reality of Jesus Christ.

The second principle of truth comes from God's revealed Word as recorded in the Holy Scriptures to man. "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:17)  The veracity of God's Word is given to man not to be changed, manipulated, deleted, and supplemented. The proverbial problem is that many so-called scholars have attempted to add their own opinions and interpretations, overriding the original intent of the Scripture. This is seen through the overwhelming acceptance by so many people of a change from the Biblical timeline found in the first eleven chapters of Genesis to the long periods of time taught by evolution.

Recently there have been claims that the reality of a single historical Adam and Eve is untrue. According to evolution, man's origin came from molecules. Through common descent would evolve primates, the distant cousins of man. God's Word comes before man's word and finite interpretations. Man is fallible and subject to error while God is truth and can only speak truth, as it is said, "Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar." (Proverbs 30:5-6 ESV)

Those who proclaim that He is truth understand that He is the Creator and absolute Law Giver of the physical universe and the heavenly spiritual realms. This embodies the third principle that God has revealed Himself as the Creator of all things. In the Gospel of John, verse 1:3 makes it clear that whatever we experience in the grandeur of Creation is a reality of Him. "All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made." God reveals the truth through the workmanship of His creation which is witnessed by all so that all men can see clearly and plainly that there is a Creator. "For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse." (Romans 1:20)

The Darwin Effect
America was founded by God-fearing men who held to the belief that there is a divine Creator and absolute Law-Giver. Our basic freedoms come from the idea that we are created by God, and therefore every man is guaranteed his basic rights listed in our constitution. Ethical Relativism once had no place in the American way of life. Our culture has shifted to adopt an antithetical approach which has been widely accepted in America and throughout the western world, declaring war on an absolute Law-Giver and Creator under the guise of evolution. It finds its home in the midst of an ever-changing climate where truth is difficult to define. It has been proclaimed that evolution is the pinnacle of science. This is basically secular naturalism that proposes upward change over unconceivable, unlimited time without any outside intelligence. An Intelligent Designer, Creator, and absolute Law-Giver are selectively excluded from this philosophical worldview. This is exemplified in our public media and educational institutions with their textbooks and curriculum as demonstrated in the Common Core educational standards where evolution is elevated to "god" status.

Every American and human being that walks the earth needs to know that Evolution is not science but is by its very nature a dangerous idea that has brought death to millions. We still suffer the consequences of the publicity of this theory as long as it persists in invading our cultural fabric. So many people are deluged with indoctrination from the secular media. To challenge this kind of brainwashing, we are offering two great resources this month that I believe will impact your lives. The first is a presentation I gave at a creation conference entitled Evolution's Fatal Fruit, in which I addressed Darwin's dangerous idea of evolution and introduced the Eugenics movement leading into the Holocaust.

Along with this DVD, we would also like to provide you with another excellent and informative resource that will reveal historical facts that expose the shocking ways evolution can debase mankind. Did you know that Ota Benga, a pigmy from Africa, was displayed at the zoo as a proof that man came from ape? He later committed suicide. What about the Ku Klux Klan using Darwinian evolution during its biggest recruiting period? What is the connection of Australian Tasmanian genocide with Darwinism? The answers to these questions and much more are found with a plethora of startling facts in Jerry Bergman's book, The Darwin Effect. It is important to make fellow Christians and so many others aware of what happens when you put the false teaching of evolution to work. We need to speak out on these issues to demonstrate how important it is to know and believe in the truth that will set us free.

We are offering the DVD Evolution's Fatal Fruit and The Darwin Effect book for a donation of $35 or more. Help our ministry move forward in proclaiming Jesus Christ as our Creator and Savior. Together we can let the world see that evolution is a bad idea that by its very nature defies God and produces horrific consequences.

Thanks for praying and partnering with our CSI ministry with your support. It means so much to us as we work diligently in fulfilling God's calling.
