The Root Cause of Terrorism
Everyone at CSI was appalled at the brazen attack perpetrated in an Orlando Florida nightclub that killed 49 people and wounded 53 more. While several of the injured are clinging to life, the political pundits, politicians and news outlets all chimed in all in accord with their particular worldview.
To the liberals and progressives, guns became the focus. To some people, it is guns, knives, cars and pressure cookers that are the culprit where violence is concerned. Impassioned calls to ban semi-automatic rifles (one shot per trigger pull for those who are ignorant of these things) is presented as a solution to the problem of terrorism. So the New York newspapers split the blame between Donald Trump, the Republicans and the NRA. The President and his chosen successor, Hilary Clinton as well as other progressively minded politicians were quick to blame everyone except the actual Islamic terrorist who perpetrated this heinous crime. Mention the actual terrorist organizations involved, i.e. ISIS/ISIL, Al Qaeda or others, and the P.C. community will be, pardon the pun, up in arms over It. Expressing the connection between the terrorism done in the name of Allah, and the religion that inspires such actions is forbidden.
This “blame-game” mentality is a very common defense mechanism of human nature. Shifting blame, pointing fingers and throwing your opponents under the proverbial bus is the standard response we hear when these types of terrorist attacks take place. What we know is that Islam is a religion based upon submission to the teachings in the Quran (the holy book of Islam) and the Hadiths (the teachings of the prophet of Islam, Muhammad). Unlike the Judeo-Christian worldview, Islam teaches that people should be converted to Islam and, if not by friendly persuasion, then by the point of a sword or the barrel of a gun. According to Sharia law, non-Muslims are infidels that can be forced to pay for protection, be enslaved outright or be executed, all with the blessings of Allah the supreme deity of Islam.
The sad truth is that all religions, Judaism, Protestantism, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and all the other “isms” are based upon false teachings. They are all subject to what I call “the curse of the isms” pronounced 750 years BC by the prophet Isaiah. It became part of Isaiah’s call to ministry, Is. 6:9-13, and it was the main reason that the majority of the Jewish people failed to recognize their own Messiah. Any person, regardless of their personal religious affiliation is subject to this curse.
13 Therefore the Lord said:
“Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths
And honor Me with their lips,
But have removed their hearts far from Me,
And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,
14 Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work
Among this people,
A marvelous work and a wonder;
For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.” Isaiah 29:13-14
If anyone begins to teach the Word of God without the benefit of the Holy Spirit, they will be unable to understand God’s truth. Have you ever wondered why neither the Chief Rabbi in Israel nor the Pope can tell you what you must do to be saved? Should not these learned men know the truth? It is the “curse of the isms” that causes men and women to remain in darkness.
If you do not know why Muslims refuse to come to Jesus Christ for salvation, you need look no further than the false teaching they promote concerning God’s Word. That is the reason that CSI is focused on God’s Word as ultimate truth. Because we believe that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, Rom. 10:17. We understand that the Living Word of God is the Author of the written Word of God. We look to Him, because He is both our Creator and our Savior. We stand firm in the truth of God’s Word, but the world, the flesh and the Devil are hell bent on attacking God’s Word in every way they can.
Understanding that false teaching will obscure the truth of the gospel, it becomes so much more important to know what Islam teaches about Jesus or Isa as He is called in their writings? Well, just as the prophet Isaiah warned, they honor Him with their mouths. In fact, the Muslims have explained that the reason the Bible cannot be trusted is because the Jews have changed the original text. That’s right, they claim that Ishmael, not Isaac, is the child of God’s promise. They deny that Jesus was crucified or that He was raised from the dead. They deny His deity and many other clear teachings of the Hebrew Scriptures. While they use the word “gospel” they remain woefully ignorant of what the good news actually represents.
What do you think about the Christ?
Like everyone else on the planet, the key question concerning people’s eternal destiny has to do with what they think about the Creator. Is Christ who the Muslims say Isa (Jesus) is? Is Jesus just a prophet to whom they give lip service calling Him the Messiah from a purely human perspective. Is He just another manifestation of the Christ or Krishna consciousness as Hindus believe? Jesus asked His own kinsman after the flesh, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” They said to Him, “The Son of David.” They gave the standard answer in accordance with first century AD Judaism, and they were partially correct. No amount of explaining was going to break through their preconceived notions concerning the Messiah. Yes, the Messiah would be in the lineage of David, but David calls Him his Adonai (Lord God) in Psalm 110:1. They could not receive this truth, that an itinerant Rabbi from the region of Galilee, who did not attend their schools of theology, could possibly be their King. The same is true of every religion based upon the opinions of men.
Today the truth of God’s Word is under attack, even from within the church. Many have compromised the clear teaching of Genesis and substituted millions-to-billions of years of evolution in place of the literal 24-hour days of the creation week. They think science can tell them ultimate truth about the origin of the Sun, moon and stars. They give lip service to the God of the Bible while placing their faith in anything but God’s revealed Word.
The ultimate cure for what ails humanity is the Savior. This same Old Testament prophet who gave us a detailed description of the Messiah and His atoning sacrifice for our sins, Is.53, gives us the following promise.
For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver,
the LORD is our king; he will save us, Is.33:22
This same Judge, Lawgiver and King is also our Savior. When we place our faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we are transplanted from a kingdom of darkness into the glorious kingdom of the Light of the World. God makes us new creations, holy ones. God gives us true peace to those who come to know the One who is the Wonderful Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of peace.
