Homegrown Terrorists Come in all Forms

Homegrown Terrorists Come in all Forms

On the morning of June 14, 2017, the news cycle was hijacked by yet another homegrown terrorist. This happened during a baseball practice for one of the more pleasant traditions that our D.C. representatives have indulged in. That tradition is linked to America’s favorite pastime, baseball, and the annual traditional Republican vs Democrat baseball game for charity that has been played since 1908.

The villain in this morning’s attack was not a radical Muslim. He had not sworn allegiance to ISIS or Al Qaeda. He was not a crazed white supremacist or a member of the New Black Panther party. The shooter was identified as a 66-year-old white person named James T. Hodgkinson from Belleville, Illinois.

The reports were quickly painting a picture of this miscreant who, as God’s grace would have it, managed to kill no one. This was most likely because one of the targets of this shooter had a security detail assigned to him. Two brave Capitol Hill Police Department officers took down this attacker. Mr. Hodgkinson evidently targeted the Republicans on the field, because he actually asked someone if the players practicing on the field were Republicans or Democrats before he opened fire.

It was easy to discover this murderer’s political leanings. He was a supporter of Bernie Sanders for president. He was extremely angry with the new President and, evidently, anyone else who might be supportive of President Trump. On social media, he wrote, “Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co.”  to accomplish his nefarious goal, he was armed with an M-4 rifle and a handgun.

I want to make something very clear. The political rancor in this country has never been so deeply divisive. Not even during the presidency of Ronald Reagan, who I might add was roundly criticized and opposed by the Democrat party for calling the USSR an “evil empire” and demanding, “Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall.”  I am old enough to remember when this same party heralded Gorbachev as the mastermind behind the ending of the Cold War. They portrayed Reagan as Gorbachev’s bumbling counterpart who was simply just along for the ride. There are still some who refuse to admit this was true.

Perhaps we have too easily forgotten that President Obama mocked then presidential candidate, Mitt Romney for claiming that Russia was America’s most dangerous enemy. Obama chided him by saying, “the 1980’s are calling, they want their foreign policy back.” Now, it seems that the Russians are our worst enemies ever!  This is while these same Democrats are outraged over Russia’s attempt to influence our election. They have ignored the fact that President Obama did everything in his power to interfere in the Israeli election and defeat his political nemesis Benjamin Netanyahu. The hypocrisy on display is stunning.

So, our political discourse has degenerated to the point where it is open season on the President of the United States. During the Obama years, a rodeo clown was punished severely for wearing a mask of President Obama. He was “banned for life” from the Missouri State Fair for doing the same thing he had done with past Presidents Bush and Clinton. But now it’s OK with far too many anti-Trump fanatics to do a mock execution of the decapitation of the President. Last week the popular presentation of Shakespeare in the Park thought it would be appropriate to change the Julius Caesar character to resemble a sitting President, Donald Trump, and murder him onstage. Never mind that this was a tax payer funded performance.

While Delta and Bank of America withdrew their support, the parent company, CNN, as well as the New York Times defended the production. Many liberal pundits have been demonizing and dehumanizing the President. This is the atmosphere that inspired Reza Aslan, host of CNN's Believer TV, called the president a ‘piece of s**t.’  What provoked this bit comment?  It was a tweet from President Trump after the London tragedy where three Jihadi terrorists killed seven people and injuring 30 more during a horrific knife rampage in central London. Trump’s point was evident in the tweet that caused this CNN host to attack the President. Trump tweeted, ‘We need to be smart, vigilant and tough. We need the courts to give us back our rights. We need the Travel Ban as an extra level of safety!’

I am making these decidedly political points for a reason. In a country that has become increasingly secular over the years, we are seeing the destruction of our great Republic from within. This demonization of one’s political opponents has got to stop. What is needed in our country is revival. In spite of the fact that many churches hold revival rallies, revival is not for the body of Messiah, it is for the lost.

With Christianity being singled out for attack, we need to take a stand for the gospel. Faithless evolution has replaced faith in God. The “golden rule” and respect for our fellow man has been eclipsed by rank partisanship and an unwillingness to appeal to the Creator for help in solving the problems that we face. Seriously dysfunctional educational system that promotes evolutionary dogma and promotes godlessness and mindless obedience to the “group think” of progressivism. Freedom of speech and freedom of religion has become freedom from speech you disagree with and freedom from religion. This has replaced the Word of God as well as the gospel that has the power to liberate souls from the darkness and bondage of sin, transforming them from sinners into saints.

If you are queasy about this ministry taking a stand against the status quo of “political party” over “one nation under God,” than I ask your forgiveness. Creation Studies Institute cannot turn a blind eye to the state of the nation. And, I do not believe that those who stand with us for our Creator and the inalienable rights that we receive from Him alone will stop supporting this ministry. We remain dedicated to reaching the world with the truths of creation and the gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
