The Worst Decision Never Appealed
We have witnessed a near-miraculous event with the election of Donald Trump and Mike Pence to be president and vice president of the United States. Amidst the rumors that have swirled about President Elect, Donald Trump, is the contention by Dr. James Dobson that Paula White led Trump in the sinner’s prayer on June 29, 2016. Dr. Dobson notes that Trump is a baby Christian and that we should be praying for him. While we need to pray for our leaders whether or not they are born again, Mike Pence has a solidly evangelical pedigree. With other committed Christians like Dr. Ben Carson in his cabinet, we should be guardedly optimistic about the result of this election. This is especially true of Donald Trump who has an enormous ego and a troubling history of womanizing.
We know that all have sinned and everyone is in need of the Savior who can transform sinners in to saints by grace through faith, Eph. 2:8-9. Christians and Jews have always been the scapegoats of society. This is universally true. Satan hates everyone and everything that God loves. Jewish and Christian people represent the Old and New Testaments, God’s divine grace and His revelation to a world in need of the Savior. As God’s beloved children, the Messiah gave us this sober instruction.
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world,” John 16:33.
It’s not like we haven’t had godly leaders in our government. Many point out that our founding fathers, who represented a mixture of Christian, Theist and Deist religious affiliations. One thing they had in common was a respect for the moral imperatives found in God’s Word. None of that seems to matter to those who have rejected the God of the Bible, the eternal God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Thomas Jefferson, who was both a Theist as well as the man responsible for writing the Declaration of Independence, made sure to note that our inalienable rights came from God and not from any human agency.
What we are certain of is that the Vice President Elect is a committed Christian.
In 2002, Mike Pence delivered a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives tackling the issue of evolution. He argued that evolution is “only a theory” and that public schools should also teach the theory of intelligent design. In his speech he stated:
“I would simply and humbly ask, can we teach it as such and can we also consider teaching other theories of the origin of species?”
“Like the theory that was believed in by every signer of the Declaration of Independence. Every signer of the Declaration of Independence believed that men and women were created and were endowed by that same Creator with certain unalienable rights. The Bible tells us that God created man in his own image, male and female. He created them.”
Clearly, he takes God at His Word and is not ashamed of the gospel of the Messiah. Godly leaders are a blessing to the people they lead and serve. The Trump administration is going into their first presidential term with tremendous problems brewing both nationally and internationally. As God’s children, we are instructed to pray for our leaders, I Tim. 2:1-2; I Peter 2:17; Rom. 13:1.
Finally, there is this promise recorded for us in God’s Word. It appears in the context of God’s chastening of His ancient covenant people Israel. This promise is as true for us today it was in the days of King Solomon.
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land, II Chronicles 7:14.
At CSI, we covet your prayers on our behalf. As we look at this upcoming holy day season, we are asking you for your support, both financially and prayerfully. We are moving forward in faith, thanking the Lord of opening the doors for CSI to expand our outreach into the Hispanic community in South Florida and into South America.
To accomplish these goals, funding needs must be met. Please consider being part of this exciting ministry outreach. As Christmas approaches, let us prepare our hearts to serve our great God and soon coming King, Jesus Christ, the Holy One of God.
