Astronomy

By Tom DeRosa, Executive Director of CSI. It’s the night sky, visible to all, that reveals the grand universe. Its countless stars and vast expanses fill us with awe and wonder about the cosmos and its mysteries. It has inspired many to look up at night and witness numerous objects moving in space at incredible speeds. Earth orbitsthe sun at 77,000 miles per hour (mph), while the sun and its solar system travel through space at about 500,000 mph. The Milky Way galaxy, where we live, spins at 1,100,000 mph as it careens through space. And yet,

“The truth is out there” has been the mantra of Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) enthusiasts for decades. With Senate Report (SR) 116-233, ufologists believe that they can now announce “The truth is here.” But what the truth is is still unidentified and, for a Christian, may represent a paradigm shift.

Astronomers and cosmologists are stunned by the latest pictures they have just received from the James Webb Space telescope characterizing them as “the impossible galaxies from the dawn of the universe.” Scientists have known that for Big Bang cosmology to be true, galaxies that are farther away are closer to the original Big Bang event.
