Water Water Everywhere, Literally!

The title for this article was borrowed from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s classic poem, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. While the crew of this tale were close to dying from a lack of drinking water, the irony becomes clear. They found themselves surrounded by an enormous body of water, the Pacific Ocean, but none of that water was potable.

This brings me to the topic of this article. This compound of water (H2O) is one of the most unique substances in the universe. Because scientists understand that water is basic to all living things, they believe that finding this compound in outer space would make it likely to be inhabited by extraterrestrial microorganisms. That was the gist of an article titled, “Huge never-before-seen lake spotted hiding under Antarctic ice” in 2016 by Andy Coghlan. The researchers opined that new and strange lifeforms would be discovered in this vast underground lake. Then they made the evolutionary leap of blind faith when they suggested that, like this Antarctic lake, extraterrestrial water might be home to alien lifeforms.

With such an intriguing title, who could ignore the implications of such a discovery?
Many of the researchers began to voice their opinions concerning the implications of what might be discovered in this new environment. As is their custom, every new discovery is seen through the lens of evolution. They cannot help but share their enthusiasm that water, in any form, would likely lead to the discovery of ET or at least a microbe that might one day evolve into ET.

For this reason, practically every probe sent into space is equipped to find water. They were looking for water on the moon; they are looking for water on Mars, Venus and many of the other planets and moons of our own solar system. These astronomers are scouring the universe looking for what has been come to be known as “Goldilocks Planets.” You have probably discerned why they have named these planets after that particular children’s story. In this story, there was one of the three bear’s whose bed was suitable to the size of our protagonist, Goldilocks.

In the field of astrobiology, the Goldilocks zone refers to the habitable zone around a star that would be just the right distance and size to support life. The Rare Earth Hypothesis uses the Goldilocks principle to argue that a planet just the right distance from a star that resembles our own Sun could be home to alien life. Either extreme, too close or too far, would result in a planet incapable of supporting life, therefore, a planet of just the right size or distance is referred to as a Goldilocks planet.

In recent times, NASA has been spending lots of time and money on the discovery of these habitable zones around stars where these Goldilocks planets might exist. Just a couple of years ago, in 2011, NASA’s Kepler mission discovered the first Earth-size planets orbiting a sun-like star outside our solar system. The planets, called Kepler-20e and Kepler-20f, were too close to their star to be in the so-called habitable zone where liquid water could exist on a planet’s surface. At that time, they were the smallest exoplanets ever confirmed around a star like our Sun, so the astrobiologists were all very excited.

Since that time, other discoveries have bolstered NASA’s belief that where there is water, there’s life. All of this is rooted in the belief that the universe is so big, with so many stars, solar systems and galaxies that life must have evolved somewhere out there in the vastness of the universe. We know that hope ever burns bright in the hearts and minds of secular scientists. They have perfect faith in the evolutionary paradigm. They posit that life had spontaneously generated at least once in our own galaxy, therefore, it must have evolved elsewhere. After all, you can get a graduate degree in astrobiology even though there has never been one discovery of life outside of our own planet, not one!

Life does not arise from non-living molecules. The concept that all you need is water and some chemicals to mix via a high impact collision and life will spontaneously arise is a fairytale for grownups that continues to be found in science textbooks.

As the proponents of evolution continue to speak with authority about things they have not observed, the Creation Studies Institute continues to confront the deception, brainwashing and censorship that characterize all aspects of science tainted with evolutionary dogma. Remember the Theory of Evolution cannot be openly challenged, it is sacrosanct. Life does not arise from non-living molecules. The concept that all you need is water and some chemicals to mix via a high impact collision and life will spontaneously arise is a fairytale for grownups that continues to be found in science textbooks. Whenever some researcher creates an experiment where they produce the building blocks of life (their words not mine), they claim evidence of abiogenesis. This word has replaced spontaneous generation, because spontaneous generation was disproved by Louis Pasteur regardless of the fact that pro-evolution websites continue to say Pasteur was wrong.

If the truth be told, the best way to characterize the results of these efforts would be to admit that they support Intelligent Design, with the researchers playing the part of the intelligent designers in a laboratory setting. What the Miller-Urey experiment proved is that intelligent designers can manipulate a laboratory experiment and produce something akin to protein globules containing the elements of amino acids in a controlled laboratory setting. That is evidence of Intelligent Design, not Darwinian evolution.

We need to remember that no one has ever witnessed abiogenesis, the fancy term that evolutionary cosmologists and astrobiologists use to describe the origin of life without a Creator. No one has been able to produce a living organism by artificial means. And as I have previously noted, success in this area would only tend to support the Theory of Intelligent Design.

The miracle molecule of water appears to be uniquely constructed to support life on planet Earth. In fact, if it were not for this simple compound of H2O, all life on our home planet would cease to exist.

So the next time someone points to one of these allegedly groundbreaking discoveries, whether it is about vast lakes hidden under the Antarctic ice or huge caverns of fresh water trapped just under the surface of the earth or a cave so massive it has its own weather system: a lost world with thick cloud and fogs trapped inside in the Chongquing province of China, take it all in with a huge grain of salt.

After decades of listening for ET to phone anywhere, without any evidence that ET actually exists, we need to be very skeptical about these so-called discoveries. There is no evidence whatsoever that there is any life outside of our own Milky Way galaxy. You can make hopeful predictions that there is life somewhere out there in the vastness of space, however, there is only one small fly in this optimistic ointment, a glaring problem that remains. After decades of research and billions of dollars spent to find life apart of our own planet, there is no evidence whatsoever that extraterrestrial life exists anywhere in the known universe.

Is there another form of water?

While the secular scientists are looking for this unique compound, H2O, there is another form of water that is even more exceptional than what they are seeking. It is the living water that was promised by the Messiah to all who place their faith in Him. This is the water that Jesus promised would satisfy man’s thirst for security, love, and significance, meaning and purpose.

When the Temple stood during the 7-day holy festival of Sukkot (Festival of Tabernacles or Booths) the Levites would perform a ceremonial cleansing that was known as the rite of water libation. A priest would take a golden pitcher down to the Pool of Siloam and fill it with water. Then, in a procession heralded by trumpets and joyful songs of praise to the Lord, he would meet another priest with a wine (drink) offering in hand. They would both go together up the ramp to the altar of the Temple. There they would pour both the water and wine into special funnels, which would cause these liquids to come out at the bottom of the altar in the form of raindrops. After the outpouring, the Hallel Psalms (Ps. 113-118) were sung as the priests.

It was against this backdrop that the Messiah stood up and cried out on the last day of this great feast concerning His promise to provide Living Water, a symbol of the Holy Spirit, promised to all who place their faith in Him.

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:37-39.

This is the true source of life, the Spirit of the Messiah, the Living Word of God, who is both Creator and Savior. He is the source of Living Water.
