Carved In Stone: Where Two Worldviews Collide
By Tom DeRosa, Executive Director of CSI. Is the biblical account of a worldwide flood, as mentioned in Genesis, a reality? Did the forces that caused this powerful, tragic global catastrophe come from beneath the Earth’s crust? And did it happen, as Genesis states, “In the six hundredth year of Noah‘s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened” (Genesis
Introduction: Universe Battles
By Tom DeRosa, Executive Director of CSI. It’s the night sky, visible to all, that reveals the grand universe. Its countless stars and vast expanses fill us with awe and wonder about the cosmos and its mysteries. It has inspired many to look up at night and witness numerous objects moving in space at incredible speeds. Earth orbitsthe sun at 77,000 miles per hour (mph), while the sun and its solar system travel through space at about 500,000 mph. The Milky Way galaxy, where we live, spins at 1,100,000 mph as it careens through space. And yet,
Threads of Wonder: Discovering God’s Handiwork in the Spider
By Tom DeRosa, Executive Director of CSI. Why do spiders exist? The little, tiny creatures that entomologists study and master are filled with so many surprises that make us ponder. They possess amazing features that can't be matched. These include their ability to defy gravity with their wings, their rapid population growth, and their complete body transformations from larva to pupa and then to adult. Insects make up over 75 to 80% of all species in the animal kingdom. It's estimated that right now,
Platypuses and Dinosaurs: Evolutionary Enigmas
By Tom DeRosa, Executive Director of CSI. Platypuses One of the most perplexing, weird, and confounding creatures for biologists to understand—especially for evolutionists—is the Australian platypus. It’s also called the duckbilled platypus because it has a bill that looks like a duck’s, along with webbed feet, and that’s about all. Everything else is different and definitely not a bird. It does lay eggs, but its leathery, soft-shelled eggs are like those of a lizard. When you approach it, you can’t help but notice that it
Living Fossils
Flamingos are found in supposedly 65-plus-million-year-old rock layers
Those Amazing Dinosaurs
Over 35 years of ministry, I have found many Christians have a problem with dinosaurs. Are dinosaurs mentioned in the Bible, or do they represent evil? Is it not true that dinosaurs are old and walked on earth at least 65 million years ago, long before humans came into existence?
Dating Results Point to a Young Earth
Most people do not realize it, but over 90% of dating results point to a young earth. However, evolution rejects the 90% and only acknowledges the 10%. In one year, 21,000 carbon-14 specimens were submitted and 19,000 were rejected. Only 2,000 were considered accurate by evolutionist. Why?
The Chimp Man Myth
We stand up tall on two legs with two arms on our sides unlike any other animal on earth. Humans are unique in so many ways when it comes to anatomy. Evolutionary biology points to the chimpanzee as our nearest relative. Yet, for a chimp to be bipedal - walking on two legs like a human - every bone of its body would have to change to walk upright. There must be significant changes in order to form a new
Dinosaurs, Fossils, and the Bible
This might be reasonable if we somehow knew (by divine revelation, perhaps) that evolution were really true. But, as a matter of fact, the only real evidence for evolution is this same fossil record! And this is where we came in! The zeal with which this evolutionary circle of reasoning is guarded is seen clearly in the approach taken with respect to its problems and contradictions. When radioactive mineral age determinations conflict with the paleontology dating (as they frequently do), they
Fossil Formation
Fossilization is a process of preservation of once living life forms by a variety of different processes. The most well known types of fossilization are permineralization and carbonization or distillation. Certain parameters must be met in order for fossils to form. They are a rapid death and fast burial in relatively anaerobic conditions. Any prolonged exposure to the elements will decrease the chances of fossilization.
