Rocks and Creation
Genesis explains the formation of the earth’s crust more plausibly than evolution. How the earth (and other planets) began is still an open question in evolutionary circles. Evolutionists agree that the earth was formed about 4.6 billion years ago, starting from a very hot gaseous state and eventually cooling down.
The Radiocarbon Dating Methods
Dating method tools have become quite widely used and accepted in recent years and is important to our study since it professes to supply absolute dates for events within the past 30 or 40 thousand years. This, of course, covers the apparent periods of Biblical history, as well as more recent dates, and so bears directly upon the question of the Flood and other related events.
The Gap Theory
It is widely known that historical geologists currently think the earth originated about 4.6 billion years ago, whereas the Bible indicates that "in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is" (Exodus 20:11).
Earth’s Population
The statistics of human populations give further support to this intimation. Ever since the famous studies of Malthus, it has been known that human populations (applied to animal populations by the first Charles Darwin, in developing his theory of evolution by natural selection) have tended to increase geometrically with time.
The Age of the Earth
As Bible believers we are always faced with the question of time. The 'molecules to men' model of Darwinian evolution requires an enormous amount of time to be factored in to the equation. It is really not much more than the 'magic ingredient' in the Theory of Evolution or the concept that given enough time, anything is possible.
How Old is the Universe?
The fact of fiat creation has, as shown in the foregoing, been conclusively documented in Scripture, as has the fact that all of God’s work of creating and making was finished and completely functioning (pronounced “very good” by God) by the end of the six-day creation period described in chapter 1 of Genesis.
